How to Calculate Quantity

Getting the right quantity is crucial. Too little means delays; too much wastes money.

Step-by-Step Calculation

  1. 1
Measure your area: Length × Width = Square meters
  2. 2
    Add waste factor:
    • • Simple rectangular rooms: Add 10%
    • • Rooms with angles/cuts: Add 15%
    • • Diagonal installation: Add 15-20%
  3. 3
Check tile coverage: Tiles are sold in boxes covering specific sqm
  4. 4
Round up: Always round up to the next full box

Example Calculation

Living room: 5m × 6m = 30 sqm

Add 10% waste: 30 × 1.10 = 33 sqm

Tiles come in 1.44 sqm/box

Need: 33 ÷ 1.44 = 22.9 boxes

→ Order 23 boxes

Red Flags When Buying

Avoid these common problems when buying tiles:

Grade B or Reject Tiles
Some sellers offer "Grade B" tiles at discount prices. These have defects - uneven sizes, color variations, surface flaws. Only use for hidden areas if at all.
Warning: May cause installation issues
Lot Number Mismatch
Tiles from different production lots can have slight color variations. Always check that all boxes have the same lot number. If mixing lots is unavoidable, blend tiles during installation.
Warning: Visible color inconsistency
Insufficient Stock
If you run short mid-project, the same design might be out of stock or from a different lot. Always buy 10-15% extra upfront.
Warning: Project delays, mismatched tiles
Delivery Damage
Inspect tiles upon delivery. Chipped edges and cracked tiles are common in transit. Note any damage before signing the delivery receipt.
Warning: Non-refundable if not reported
Wrong Tile for Application
Using wall tiles on floors (they'll crack) or indoor tiles outdoors (they'll deteriorate). Always confirm the tile is rated for your intended use.
Warning: Premature failure, replacement needed
